![]() MacLean Adventures has created the most amazing tour of Switzerland for September 2018. You’ll spend thirteen days visiting Swiss wonders, gazing on majestic sights, learning and exploring.
We arrive to Zurich and make our way by train the following day to the resort town of St Moritz. We’ll dine at an elegant dinner at Le Restaurant in the Bradrutt’s Palace, before retiring there for the evening. Next is a spectacular ride on the world famous Glacier Express train to Zermatt, a resort town at the base of the Matterhorn. While in Zermatt, we’ll enjoy dining at mountain restaurants serving delicious traditional Swiss meals. We’ll then travel by train across the Swiss countryside to the Berner Oberland car-free resort town of Wengen, quaintly perched on the side of the mountain with unbelievable views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. The train journey to the summit at Jungfraujoch – the Top of Europe – is a trip of a lifetime! Once at the top (over 11,000 feet up!) we’ll enjoy wine and Swiss whiskey tasting and delectable Swiss dishes for lunch while viewing glaciers all around us. Our next stop is Montreux, on the banks of Lake Geneva. We’ll stay at the luxury Fairmont le Montreux Palace Hotel, and journey on the famous Chocolate Train with time to stop and explore the medieval town of Gruyeres. We’ll enjoy an evening at the L’Auberge de l’Onde restaurant, acclaimed not only for delicious food, but also for a spectacular wine list curated by the sommelier Jérôme Aké Béda – named the best sommelier in Switzerland in 2015 by Gault & Millau. The restaurant is situated in the Lavaux region within the Lauvaux Terraces, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our Adventure continues through the Lavaux region to the curious and eco-luxurious Whitepod Hotel. You’ll spend an unforgettable night in a cozy ‘yurt-like’ pod suite in the heart of the Swiss Alps. While there we will learn about Swiss wine from local wine-makers, enjoy the views and soak in the natural surroundings. Capping off our amazing tour of the wonders of Switzerland, we will stop in Lausanne, the heart of the Olympic Movement, for a tour of the Olympic Museum. Departures are from the Geneva Airport. |
